Ready to Spice up your cooking?
Learn how adding common spices can elevate your culinary skills, lower your blood pressure and expand your creativity in the kitchen! Dr. Maria Portelos-Rometo from the University of Florida/IFAS will show you how cooking with herbs and spices can transform your creations and increase your overall health.
Cooking with herbs and spices not only adds flavor to your recipes, but can also help you to reduce the amount of salt, fat and even sugar you might add into your recipe. Did you know adding spices to your food actually cools you down in the hot summer months as well? This class will also discuss proper use of herbs and spices, herb preparation for freezing, how to dry and store them, as well as how to use spices safely in garlic-herb oil mixtures.
Attendees will receive a complimentary cooking with herbs and spices chart showing uses for spices and easy reference for common spice blends.
